On April 27, 2024, the Middlesex College Community Gospel Choir's Spring Showcase at the Black Box Studio Theater was a vibrant celebration of community spirit. It began with a touching short film that highlighted the gospel choir's dedication and values. Following this, a scene dramatizing how Flora Stowe, the EOF Assistant Director, played a pivotal role in establishing the choir, added a theatrical touch to the event.
Alumni joined the current choir on stage, blending their voices in beautiful harmony. Under the skilled direction of Roy and Mystique McDonald, the audience enthusiastically joined in, making the night interactive and joyful.
The musicians excelled: Don Tipton on guitar, Gustavo Alonzo Tencio Montero on bass, Elisha Souels on drums, and Elijah Souels on piano, all under the expert guidance of musical director Antonio Idioma. Their performances added depth and energy to the showcase.
A special highlight was Zulema Cheek, the Student Life Director, conducting the poignant a cappella song "Wait on the Lord," showcasing her leadership and adding a soulful dimension to the performance.
The evening concluded with a heartfelt gesture, as the entire choir and musicians were presented with flowers in gratitude for their inspiring performance, capping off a memorable showcase filled with talent and unity.
