THE FOUNDER

Barbara Roberts

Barbara Ann Roberts embarked on her academic journey in 2014, starting at Middlesex County College, where she pursued her passion for music. From a young age, Barbara remembers her journey to singing, beginning at the tender age of 3 while sitting next to her granddad at the piano as he played. In 2018, she earned an associate degree in music fine arts, laying the foundation for her future endeavors. Continuing her quest for knowledge, Barbara transitioned to Montclair State University, graduating with honors in Psychology in 2019. Her academic pursuits didn't end there, as she pursued a Master of Arts in Music with a concentration in Music Therapy at John Cali School of Music.

Equipped with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Music Therapy, Barbara brings a unique blend of expertise to her roles. Currently serving as an Instructor at Montclair State University, she specializes in adaptive music lessons, catering to a diverse population with different abilities and musical needs. Additionally, Barbara is deeply involved in the Middlesex College Community Gospel Choir, which she founded in 2014, where she not only directs musical arrangements but also oversees choir operations and serves as a mentor to choir members and youth.

In addition to her musical and academic achievements, Barbara is dedicated to serving her community. She cares for seniors with advanced dementia ailments at Spring Hills Assistant Living and Acute Care of Matawan NJ, as a Music Therapy/Activities specialist. Barbara also attends church at the Seventh Day Adventist church, where she sings on the praise and worship team, further highlighting her commitment to music and spirituality.

As the Activities Coordinator at Jewish Family Services of NJ, she designs and implements engaging and therapeutic activities tailored to the specific needs of seniors with dementia, providing them with opportunities for social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and emotional support.

Barbara's commitment to education, music, healthcare, and community service reflects her unwavering dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of others. Her diverse experiences and contributions embody the values of compassion, community, and excellence, inspiring those around her to follow in her footsteps
